Boer War Service 2020
31/05/2020
Girl Guides Victoria have been invited to participate in the march and attend a service at the Enternal Flame at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.
The Boer War Day Service commemorates the 23,000 Australians that served. The particular focus this year is paying tribute to the Australians and New Zealanders who fought together in the ANZAC tradition.
The march will begin at the lower end of the Shrine Forecourt and will be led by the Creswick Light Horse, followed by:
- the Tobruk Pipes and Drums
- the Australian Great War Association in Boer War uniforms
- banners and flags
A certificate will be awarded to every Guide who attends in uniform. Guides must attend with a supervising adult. Family medals can be worn.
Please arrive early to register. You will be required to provide your name and group contact details to an official at the registration tent. The Right Honorable Lord Baden-Powell of Gilwell and Honourable Wendy Baden-Powell will also be attending.
Scouts and Guides may be asked to help with minor jobs on the day.
Light refreshments will be provided after the service.
