Chinese night at Guides

August 18, 2016

This week, local Girl Guides spent the night learning about Chinese traditions.  They were lucky to have had a visit from Abby, a resident of the Peoples Republic of China who is currently on a working holiday in Ballarat.

Abby told the Guides about how girls are treated differently in China and discussed the size of China compared to the population. They played Chinese checkers, made paper craft, dressed in Chinese attire and learnt how to use chopsticks. That was very important, as they needed to sample the dumplings that they made. This was a new experience for most girls, and many had to accept the challenge to try new food.
