Ballarat Guides Centenary !!
During 2022-2023, Ballarat Guides celebrated our 100th birthday.
The first Girl Guide unit in Ballarat opened in 1922 and Guiding has consistently contributed to the local community. Guides often carry flags at official ceremonies, stand as guard at ANZAC Day vigils, cook meals for those in need, participate in Clean Up Australia campaigns, sell ANZAC Day badges and clean the toys at the Ballarat Toy Library.
Hundreds of women have dedicated many hours of their time, their expertise and passion for empowering girls and young women to discover their potential.
The birthday was acknowledged in various ways:
- the World Flag was flying outside of the Ballarat Town Hall
- a World Thinking Day observation activity was held throughout the streets of Ballarat
- a Region-wide camp and activity was held at Lingbogol
- a Gone Home memorial was created in the Quiet Corner at Lingbogol
