Happy Birthday Mahiro
The day began with a quick family celebration for Mahiro’s 15th birthday. We even managed to display some Ballarat sunshine for the occasion.
Lumen Christi Primary School
Our visiting Japanese Guides started the day with a quick visit to Lumen Christi Primary School where some of our host families and other local Girl Guides attend school.
They spent time participating in some Australian activities with the grade 5/6 classes. They had a tour of the school, watched an Australian story and sampled Aussie foods.
Lumen Christi students learn Japanese as a second language.
Sovereign Hill
This was followed by a full day at Sovereign Hill enjoying:
- candle making
- bowling
- redcoat display
- a mine tour
- lolly making demonstration
- climbing the poppet-head
- historic photo session
- panning for gold
- shopping
Mt Clear Secondary College
Our Guides then met up with teachers and students from the Mt Clear Secondary College. Girls from Mt Clear had themselves been hosted by some of our Guides whilst in Japan so this was an ideal opportunity for a reunion.
Sam, Noriko and their team prepared a lovely meal.
So many activities in such a short time frame.
