Clean Up Australia

Many Girl Guide units have participated in the annual Clean Up Australia campaign and helped clean up parts of Ballarat. This is one of the many ways that Guides provide service to their local community.
The girls spread out across Ballarat and removed rubbish and recyclable items from local streets and venues.
Clean Up Australia Day
This annual event began in 1990 when Ian Kiernan had an idea to make a difference in his own backyard. Clean Up Australia Day is now Australia's largest community-based environmental event.
19 million Australians have donated 38.5 million volunteer hours to cleaning up streets, bushland, parks and waterways.
Our Girl Guides are proud to be part of such a worthwhile program.
