Girl Guides Take to the Water in Creswick
Under brilliant blue skies and perfect conditions, some of our Girl Guides embarked on their first canoeing adventure at St George’s Lake in Creswick. Excitement filled the air as they listened attentively to instructions and dipped their paddles into the water, eager to learn and explore.
Around 50 Girl Guides, ranging in age from 5 to 15, took part in the experience, mastering essential paddling techniques and learning how to safely transfer between canoes. With determination and enthusiasm, many of the girls embraced an even bigger challenge – deliberately capsizing their canoes and working together to swim the canoes back to shore. This thrilling exercise not only strengthened their water skills but also built confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
The day wouldn’t have been possible without the expertise of the Morland Canoe Team, who generously traveled to Creswick to provide this invaluable experience. Their guidance and encouragement allowed our Ballarat Guides to push their limits, enjoy a fun outdoor activity, and create lasting memories on the water.
From nervous first strokes to triumphant paddles across the lake, the adventure was an unforgettable opportunity for our Girl Guides to grow, learn, and have fun.
