Girl Guide Promise
The review that resulted in the current Promise and Law ensures that the commitment of Guides remains relevant and meaningful to girls and women in 21st century Australia.
To be true to myself and develop my beliefs
Guiding provides an opportunity to reflect on the issues related to the inner self and to enable girls and women to make good decisions, form good relationships and develop a sense of self. A strong sense of self leads to personal development, a deepening spiritual awareness and an expression of beliefs through action.
To serve my community and Australia
Service and helpfulness to others are key values in Guiding. This may be within the home and family or in the wider community, be that local, national or global. Good citizenship; awareness of Australia's heritage and future; recognition of the traditional custodians of our land; and respect for individual communities are included in our service to the community and Australia.
Guides may still choose to serve the Queen as part of their service to Australia.
And live by the Guide Law
A Guide will make good use of her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual gifts. Awareness and development of these talents and abilities will help her to realise her potential to fully contribute to society.
