World Teachers Day 2018
October 26, 2018
Teachers at Guides Night
Happy World Teacher’s day to all our school teachers.
The Delacombe Junior Girl Guides acknowledge this special day every year with a “Teachers at Guides Night”. For the 12th year, the girls have invited their school teachers along to participate in an evening of Guide activities.
It takes a dedicated teacher to voluntarily spend non-school hours with their students. This year, teachers attended from:
- Mount Clear P.S.
- Urquhart Park P.S.
- Phoenix Community College
- Forest Street P.S.
- Ballarat Grammar
- Buninyong P.S.
- Delacombe P.S.
The Guides and their teachers spent the night enjoying subject-related activities, specifically:
- ART – making a uniform sash and badges for their teachers and pinning on a special “World Teacher Day” badge
- LIBRARY – making owl bookmarks and completing a WordFind relating to childrens’ books
- LOTE – communicating via semaphore
- SCIENCE – launching bottle rockets
They were even given a report card !!
In previous weeks, the Guides had baked shortbread biscuits and created gift baskets which were presented at the event.
Teachers Day is acknowledged world-wide and is celebrated in Australia each year on the last Friday in October.
