Canoeing at St George’s Lake

At last.

The canoeing activity that was previously postponed due to a severe weather warning, and then by a Covid lockdown, finally proceeded.  And what a perfect day for the event.

76 Girl Guides aged 5+ spent time canoeing on the waters of the beautiful St George’s Lake in Creswick.

The weather was ideal, especially as most girls had never experienced canoeing before.  The Morland Canoe Team did a fantastic job of instructing the girls.  The Guides thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor activity and obtained a new set of skills.

Many of the Guides took on an additional challenge of learning the correct technique to recover from a capsized canoe and swim it to shore.
