National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

June 7, 2018

Any excuse to eat ice cream

June 7

Today is national Chocolate Ice Cream Day.  Sure, that’s in the United States of America. But we are happy to celebrate international ocassions.

The earliest frozen chocolate recipes were published in Naples, Italy in 1693. Until the 1800s, ice cream was a rare and exotic dessert enjoyed mostly by the elite. Today it is the second most common flavour (after vanilla), although it was actually created first. Generally, cocoa powder is blended in with eggs, cream, vanilla and sugar and then frozen.

Our Girl Guides made their own chocolate ice cream to celebrate and the results were delicious.
