Sebastopol Guides Taking The Lead
Last week, the 1st Sebastopol Guides meeting was led by the eldest members of the unit, the 14+ patrol. The aim was to plan and run an evening of activities following the Australian Guide Program Process, while also giving Leader-in-Training Bridget Smith the opportunity to facilitate the session as part of her leadership qualification requirements.
The result was a fun and rewarding evening for all.
Each of the older Guides prepared and led an activity for the younger Guides to enjoy in a round-robin format:
- Lamington Making: A hands-on, and very messy cooking activity that somehow resulted in chocolate and coconut spread everywhere
- Historical Bingo: A fun game that quickly turned competitive
- God’s Eye Craft: A relaxing craft session where Guides created colourful God’s Eye designs while chatting about their week.
The night was a great success, demonstrating leadership, creativity, and teamwork, and everyone is already looking forward to the next youth-led evening.
