Fire Brigade visit Girl Guides

July 24, 2016

Girl Guides Fire BrigadeLast week, a team of volunteer members of the Sebastopol Fire Brigade visited local Girl Guides to teach about fire safety issues. The girls learnt important concepts, including “get down low and go”, which they practiced in the hall.  They were shown various uniforms and each items was explained.  They really enjoyed the tour of the firetruck and the force of the fire hose.  The lights and sirens were a bonus.
This visit will be followed up by practicing fire evacuation procedures and creating an escape plan for their family home. Fire extinguishers and smoke alarms have been located throughout the hall and the Guide.

Junior Leader, Vanessa, is a volunteer at the Buninyong Fire Brigade and showed the girls her own uniform.  It was surprising how heavy those boots are.
