Cardboard Classic Train Race
November 12, 2016
Guides and Scouts at Ballarat Show
As part of the activities at the Ballarat Show, local Scouts and Girl Guides joined together to participate in the annual Cardboard Classic.
This year’s requirement was for the youth members to build their own trains using cardboard boxes and tape. And any suitable decorations. We had some of the prettiest train carriages you’d ever see.
Participants were divided into Scout section ages and completed a race course that included corners, navigating through tyres, and passing the trains over a barrier.
The Guides and Scouts all enjoyed a great race day. And of course, the Leaders race is always entertaining.
This activity was held on the Friday of the long weekend, also Remembrance Day. The one minute silence was observed across the show grounds. The Guides found and gathered around an Australian flag flying on a nearby flagpole.
