Lingbogol Donation
Thank you for choosing to donate to Girl Guide Ballarat. A tax-deductible receipt will be issued directly from Guides Victoria.
Your donation will help replace the roof at the Lingbogol Girl Guide campsite, allowing it to reopen for camping and outdoor programs.
Why is Lingbogol Important?
Lingbogol has been the much-loved campsite of generations of Girl Guides in Ballarat—and beyond—since the 1950s. It has hosted everything from weekend camps and pack holiday, to day adventures, District activities and Region events, becoming a valued space for outdoor learning, leadership, and connection.
The name Lingbogol reflects its meaningful history:
- “Ling” honours the District Commissioner who initiated the project in 1946 to establish a permanent Guiding campsite.
- “Bogol” is an Aboriginal word meaning camp, symbolising the site’s purpose and spirit.
Over the decades, Lingbogol has endured challenges, including the Creswick bushfires of 1977 and 1983. But today it faces a new and urgent crisis: the main building is no longer safe to use due to a deteriorating ceiling. That means no indoor Guiding activities can take place, and no bookings -resulting in a complete loss of income that would otherwise help cover the cost of repairs.
Why We Need Your Help
The immediate need is to replace the ceiling of the main building so that Lingbogol can once again be a safe and welcoming place for girls to camp, learn, and grow. Until this critical repair is completed, the building cannot be used, and many planned activities remain on hold.
A quote of $25,000 seems impossible—yet there is no other option. Without these repairs, the site cannot reopen, and a vital part of local Guiding will remain out of reach for the girls who need it most.
Your donation will go directly toward restoring the site, helping us reopen this beloved resource for current and future generations of Girl Guides.
