Ruff Diamonds Honouring the Queen

On this, the King’s Birthday long weekend, our Ruff Diamond Trefoil members completed a project to mark 70 years of service by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Trefoils provided service by continuing a task started by local Girl Guides the previous weekend.  Youth members aged from 5 years old had worked together to passionately plant 200 trees as part of the ‘Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee‘ program, an initiative of the Australian Government.

To ensure the well-being and growth of the newly planted native trees, the Trefoils completed the job of wheeling barrowloads of mulch to the base of each tree to provide nutrients and insulation. Stakes were added to support the protective plant guards and ensure stability.
