Gladys Berejiklian
The ability of Guiding to vary the program to keep up with changing times reflects upon its relevance to modern youth. I thank Guides for enriching my life in many ways. Guiding has given me an appreciation for the environment and the Australian bush. It has also equipped me with survival skills and the mechanisms to cope in unique, unplanned situations. I have developed a real appreciation for community services, and a sense of duty to help the community.
Prior to being positioned as NSW’s 45th Premier, Gladys Berejiklian was already known for being
- one of only a few female presidents of the New South Wales Young Liberal Party
- first Armenian descendant to be elected to the New South Wales Parliament
- visiting the USA as a delegate from the Australian Political Exchange Council
She has been Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Shadow Minister for Transport, and Shadow Minister for Transport and Citizenship.
Gladys began Guiding as a Brownie and continues to act as Ambassador for Girl Guides NSW/ACT and to promote Guiding in her community.
